Permaculture Garden Tours at Common Ground
Nestled at the gateway to Kilauea’s most beautiful hidden treasures is an Organic Garden Tour unlike any other. Both entertaining and educational, our tour begins with a 45-minute guide through our beautiful edible landscapes and lush tropical gardens. On this interactive walk through paradise you will learn about the importance of organic farming and see the principles of permaculture design in effect. Our intention is to farm using methods that meet our needs without inhibiting the needs of future generations—commonly referred to as sustainable agriculture.With chickens in the food forest and tropical sheep in field we bring a truly unique farm and garden experience to the table.
Once you’ve worked up an appetite you can step right from our gardens into The Garden restaurant. Innovative in its philosophy, The Garden sources its menu from Kauai’s local farmers; creating a seasonal, “local-vore” selection of the freshest food imaginable. After your meals, you are free to follow the signposts that will guide you through the rest of our magical acreage. Nature walks through babbling brooks; old-growth eucalyptus forests, Palapa’s and ponds are just a few of the sights you’ll see on this easy, self-guided stroll through all Common Ground has to offer.
